Denpasar, The Gulf Observer: The Bali office of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has reported that international tourist arrivals to the island reached their highest monthly total of the year in July 2025, continuing a steady upward trend in foreign visits.

According to BPS, Bali welcomed 697,107 international visitors in July, marking a 9.29 percent increase compared with June’s 637,868 arrivals. June had also shown growth from May, which recorded 602,213 visitors.

“During the high season, the number of international arrivals via air in July rose by 9.30 percent month-on-month, although arrivals by sea declined,” said Ari Kurnianto, Head of the Public Relations Team at BPS Bali, in Denpasar on Monday.

The latest figure also reflected strong year-on-year growth, surpassing the 625,665 arrivals recorded in July 2024 by 11.42 percent.

BPS attributed the increase partly to seasonal factors, including Australia’s winter school holiday and heatwave warnings in parts of Europe, which may have influenced tourists’ travel choices.

By country of origin, Australian visitors remained the largest group with 161,051 arrivals in July, followed by travelers from China (59,651), India (45,288), France (38,460), and South Korea (38,275). Notably, French arrivals saw the sharpest month-on-month increase, rising 60.70 percent from 23,933 in June.

By region, European tourists led the surge with 206,280 arrivals, followed by Asia (197,528) and Oceania (179,171). Fewer than 100,000 visitors each came from ASEAN countries, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa.

Cumulatively, Bali recorded 3.98 million international arrivals between January and July 2025, representing a 12.46 percent increase compared with the same period last year.
