Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Ambassador Najm us Saqib launched his book titled Obiter Dictum at the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) on Thursday. The book launch was well attended by notable dignitaries including former Foreign Secretary Ambassador Inam ul Haq, Ambassador Sohail Mehmood, Ambassador Tassaduq Hussain and Ambassador Shah Jamal in addition to the publisher Ms Hira Ijaz and author’s close friends and family.

Commenting on the book, Ambassador Sohail Mehmood, DG Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) complimented the author and said that Obiter Dictum was an important addition to the existing discourse on foreign relations and internal challenges confronting Pakistan at present. He added that scope of the book was quite expansive dealing with all geographical neighbors. Obiter Dictum was not only deep, profound and rich in character but also satiating for those fond of literature, philosophy, diplomacy and international relations, he added.

Ms Aisha Khan, CEO Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change (CSCCC) and the author’s close friend congratulated Ambassador Najm us Saqib on the release of his book. She complimented his writing prowess resulting in extremely captivating articles. Ms Khan said the Obiter Dictum was a book of its own kind and offered insights on key challenges in the most candid and unfiltered writing style.

We should not let pessimism over the currently unfolding internal issues cloud our hopes for a better tomorrow

Ambassador Najm us Saqib, the author himself, discussed the various aspects of his book, especially with respect to foreign policy orientation of Pakistan and existing challenges in the said domain. He advised the youth to pursue challenges and to never shy away from difficulties and noted that we could not let pessimism over the currently unfolding internal issues cloud our hopes for a better tomorrow. The future of Pakistan was meant to be a picture of meritocracy, stability, free of nepotism and resourcefulness, he added. He commemorated his mother on the occasion and praised her role in fostering the love for reading and writing in him during his early days.

Following the discussion, Ambassador Nadeem Riyaz, President IRS also offered his felicitations to the author on his book.
