Brazilian President Affirms Commitment to One-China Policy
Fortaleza, The Gulf Observer: In a significant diplomatic meeting on Friday in Fortaleza, Brazil, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reiterated his steadfast commitment to the one-China policy during discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
President Lula expressed his optimism for heightened bilateral relations and called for increased high-level exchanges to elevate the existing comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Brazil to new heights. Emphasizing Brazil’s readiness to deepen cooperation, he welcomed additional investments from Chinese enterprises.
Highlighting the alignment of important consensus on major issues between the two nations, President Lula urged joint efforts to strengthen the overall strength and global voice of developing countries.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, assured that China consistently prioritizes its relations with Brazil in its diplomatic endeavors. Stressing the importance of joint efforts, Wang called for a deepening of China’s cooperation with the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
In the spirit of commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Wang expressed China’s readiness to seize the opportunity to enhance the synergy of development strategies, foster high-level exchanges, and explore new avenues for the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership.
In a parallel development, Wang Yi and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira co-chaired the fourth China-Brazil Foreign Ministerial-Level Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue on Friday. During the dialogue, both foreign ministers reached an agreement to expand cooperation in emerging fields such as connectivity, healthcare, green development, digital economy, clean energy, and artificial intelligence.
The discussions underscored the shared commitment of China and Brazil to strengthening their strategic partnership and exploring innovative avenues for collaboration in key sectors, reflecting the growing depth of relations between the two nations.
