Brunei’s Passport Among Asia’s Top 10 for Global Mobility, Henley Report Reveals
Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: The Brunei Darussalam passport continues to stand out in Asia for its robust global mobility, offering Bruneian citizens visa-free access to 166 destinations worldwide. According to the October edition of the Henley Global Mobility Report by Henley & Partners, Brunei ranks among the top ten passports in Asia, highlighting the nation’s strong international mobility and ease of travel.
The report shows Singapore leading Asia’s rankings, with visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations. Japan and South Korea follow closely with 192 and 191 destinations, respectively. The United Arab Emirates holds fourth place with 185 destinations, while Malaysia is ranked fifth with 183.
Brunei’s passport stands just behind Hong Kong’s, which grants visa-free entry to 171 destinations. Meanwhile, Qatar, Kuwait, Maldives, and China provide citizens access to fewer destinations, with 107, 99, 94, and 85 destinations, respectively. At the lower end of the regional rankings, citizens of Nepal, Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, and Afghanistan face more restricted mobility.
The Henley Passport Index ranks 199 passports worldwide, using up-to-date visa policies to assess each passport’s global reach. It has become a crucial tool in understanding global mobility trends, as visa policies continue to adapt to international developments.
