Central –South Asia Connectivity through CPEC: Training Session of LCWU Fellows
Lahore, The Gulf Observer: On 4th December 2024, as part of a joint fellowship program, Ms. Hafsa Akram, Research Head of Fellowship Program led a captivating Training Session at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) in Lahore. During the session, Ms. Hafsa shared valuable insights on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its potential for economic integration by providing access to Central Asia’s rich energy resources and direct routes to the Arabian Sea for landlocked nations.
Ms. Isha Fatima welcomed Ms. Hafsa, while Dr. Kalsoom Hanif, Coordinator for the Student Fellowship Initiative, expressed immense gratitude for her expertise and the valuable information shared. Ms. Hafsa also emphasized CPEC’s potential for economic integration by providing access to Central Asia’s rich energy resources and direct routes to the Arabian Sea for landlocked nations. She highlighted Pakistan’s geostrategic position, linking various regional initiatives like TAPI and CASA-1000, and its historical ties through the Silk Road that support trade and cultural exchanges. The initiative also promotes foreign investment and industrial growth via Special Economic Zones while addressing challenges such as geopolitical tensions and security concerns in Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan.
The training session concluded with an interactive question and answer segment, during which students actively participated, shared their viewpoints, and posed questions to Ms. Hafsa Akram.
Currently, about 30 Master’s and Bachelor’s level students are participating in this fellowship program.
