Muzaffarabad, The Gulf Observer: Muhammad Khan, Chairman of Uniplast Qatar and Shangrila Murree & Kashmir, along with Qaiser Nawab, Chairman of the Belt and Road Initiative for Sustainable Development (BRISD), called on the Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, at his chamber in Muzaffarabad.

The meeting focused on pressing issues including youth employment, climate change, the recent challenges of flooding and cloud bursts in the region, and the pivotal role of democratic institutions in addressing these challenges.

Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar warmly welcomed the delegation and briefed them on his special initiative of launching a Youth Paid Internship Program at the AJK Assembly. The program is designed to give young people direct exposure to democratic and policy-making processes, equipping them with skills, awareness, and first-hand experience in governance.

Qaiser Nawab shared his learning journey of serving as Deputy Speaker of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan, underscoring the importance of youth participation in democratic institutions. He assured full support for the Speaker’s special tree plantation initiative in AJK, particularly in his constituency, stressing that afforestation is vital to addressing climate challenges faced by Pakistan, AJK, and the wider world.

Muhammad Khan, through his Ujala Foundation, also pledged support for several projects in AJK, with a focus on youth employment, skill development, and tourism promotion. He emphasized that enhancing tourism through internationally recognized standards would boost the local economy and generate sustainable livelihoods for the people of the region.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to work collectively for youth empowerment, climate resilience, and inclusive development in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
