Beijing, The Gulf Observer: A China-Africa media exchange event was held in Beijing on Saturday, drawing the participation of over 200 representatives from international organizations, media, think tanks, and other fields from China and more than 20 African countries. The event, hosted by China Media Group, was a significant platform for deepening media exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa.

Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event via video and delivered a keynote speech. In his address, Li emphasized the importance of media as a bridge for promoting mutual understanding and learning among civilizations.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Central African Republic President Faustin Archange Touadera, and Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan also sent video messages, expressing their commitment to strengthening China-Africa media exchanges and deepening practical cooperation.

The event’s participants highlighted the upcoming 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, set to be held in Beijing, as a pivotal moment for advancing China-Africa relations. They expressed optimism that the summit would open new horizons in the development of a China-Africa community with a shared future.

Discussions at the event underscored the crucial role of media in fostering people-to-people exchanges and promoting a fair, objective, and positive global public opinion ecology. Participants agreed that Chinese and African media should adhere to the concept of win-win cooperation, telling compelling stories of China-Africa cooperation and development, and sharing experiences in modernization tailored to local conditions.

The event also called for strengthening exchanges and collaboration in cutting-edge technologies, further bolstering popular support for China-Africa cooperation, and enhancing the media’s role in building a healthy global public opinion environment in the digital age.
