China always supports a bigger role for the UNGA, says Wang Yi

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China has always offered full support for the UN cause and supports a bigger role for the UN General Assembly, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday during his virtual meeting with the President of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly Csaba Korosi.
In the face of global turmoil, China will firmly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, the international order based on international law and the basic norms of governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, Wang added.
Noting that China’s foreign policy was fully elaborated on by the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Wang said that China will take an active part in the reform and improvement of the global governance system, uphold true multilateralism and make a greater contribution to deepening cooperation with the UN in addressing common challenges facing the international community, he noted.
Noting that Chinese modernization insists on harmonious coexistence between man and nature, Wang said that China will follow the path of green, low-carbon and sustainable development.
For Korosi’s part, he congratulated China on the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress, saying that the UN looks forward to strengthening its cooperation with China so as to promote the success of COP27 and jointly tackle climate change.
