China and France Establish International Biodiversity Research Network
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: The Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced on Thursday the establishment of an international biodiversity research network in collaboration with the French National Centre for Scientific Research. This initiative aims to address global challenges such as biodiversity loss, animal disease epidemics, and ecosystem dysfunction.
The research network, spearheaded by teams from CAS and their French counterparts, will work jointly to respond to these critical environmental issues. Zhu Chaodong, the executive director of the network, highlighted the future focus areas, which include studying the impacts and mechanisms of the environment, climate change, and human activities on biodiversity loss and biological invasions.
In addition to research, the network aims to provide actionable solutions for biodiversity conservation and to promote public education and student training in related fields. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both China and France to advancing scientific understanding and practical approaches to preserving global biodiversity.
