The commitment was expressed during a meeting with Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, in Beijing.

Premier Li highlighted the longstanding and respectful diplomatic relationship between China and Malaysia, noting that the two countries have consistently treated each other as equals and have fostered friendly relations based on mutual interests. He underscored that as this year marks the 50th anniversary of their bilateral ties, China is keen to advance high-level exchanges under the strategic guidance of both nations’ leaders.

Li affirmed China’s support for Malaysia in safeguarding core interests such as sovereignty and security. He emphasized the importance of leveraging complementary economic strengths to promote development and contribute to regional prosperity and stability.

“China will strengthen strategic alignment with Malaysia, carry out key projects under the Belt and Road cooperation, and explore cooperation in emerging fields such as the digital economy and new energy vehicles,” Li said. He also mentioned the goal of expanding trade volume and deepening cooperation for mutual benefit. Additionally, Li called for increased exchanges in education, culture, youth, and other people-to-people areas.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in various sectors including economy, trade, investment, vocational education, and sustainable development. He stressed the importance of people-to-people exchanges and advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Malaysia and China.

Ahmad Zahid reaffirmed Malaysia’s adherence to the one-China policy and condemned all forms of “Sinophobia,” asserting that Malaysia-China relations remain unaffected by external influences. He also emphasized Malaysia’s dedication to progressing negotiations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, asserting that attempts by external forces to create discord in the region would not succeed.

“Malaysia is willing to work together with China to further deepen coordination and cooperation on regional and international affairs,” Ahmad Zahid stated.

This meeting underscores the commitment of both nations to fostering strong bilateral relations and collaborating on key regional and global issues, aiming for a stable and prosperous East Asia.
