China and Tunisia Forge Strategic Partnership

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Tunisian President Kais Saied have jointly announced the establishment of a strategic partnership between their nations, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations.

The announcement unfolded during talks between President Xi and President Saied, who is currently undertaking a state visit to China.

President Xi emphasized the enduring bond between China and Tunisia, characterizing the relationship as one of good friends and brothers. Reflecting on the six-decade-long diplomatic ties, President Xi commended the mutual respect and support that have defined the partnership, transcending international challenges and fostering solidarity among developing nations.

President Xi underscored the intrinsic alignment of interests and aspirations shared by the Chinese and Tunisian peoples. He affirmed China’s commitment to deepening exchanges and cooperation across diverse sectors to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

“With today’s announcement of the China-Tunisia strategic partnership, we are paving the way for an even brighter future for our relations,” President Xi declared.

China stands in staunch support of Tunisia’s pursuit of a development path tailored to its national conditions, President Xi asserted. He expressed China’s readiness to synchronize development strategies with Tunisia, deepen collaboration in infrastructure, new energy, healthcare, green development, water resources, and agriculture, and bolster high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. President Xi extended a warm welcome to the entry of more high-quality Tunisian products into the Chinese market.

Moreover, President Xi affirmed China’s commitment to augmenting cooperation in education, tourism, and healthcare, including the dispatch of high-caliber medical teams to Tunisia.

In alignment with Tunisia’s aspirations, President Xi stressed the importance of solidarity among countries in the Global South, advocating for genuine multilateralism and an equitable, multipolar world order.

President Saied expressed his delight at embarking on a historic visit to China, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. He underscored Tunisia’s deep-rooted friendship and fruitful cooperation with China, while expressing aspirations for enhanced support and collaboration in vital areas such as health, transportation, green development, and education.

Tunisia stands firmly behind the one-China policy and pledges unwavering support for China’s territorial integrity and core interests, President Saied affirmed.

Both leaders exchanged views on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with President Xi reaffirming China’s steadfast alignment with Arab countries. Both sides committed to working together to advance a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution based on the two-State solution.

The talks concluded with the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation agreements, spanning green and low-carbon development, and investment. Additionally, a joint statement on the establishment of a strategic partnership was issued.

Earlier in the day, President Xi and First Lady Peng Liyuan extended a warm welcome to President Saied and his accompanying delegation, culminating in a welcome banquet held in their honor.

The establishment of the strategic partnership between China and Tunisia heralds a new era of enhanced cooperation and mutual benefit, promising to foster prosperity and stability for both nations and beyond.
