China Commends Non-Aligned Movement for Advancing Global Peace

Kampala, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special representative, Liu Guozhong, addressed the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, on Friday and Saturday. In his speech, Liu underscored the significant role of the NAM in promoting global peace and human progress.
Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, commended the NAM for its effective contributions to world peace and human advancement since its inception during the climax of national liberation movements in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Advocating for the continuation of the NAM’s principles, Liu emphasized the importance of upholding independence, opposing power politics, seeking common ground while shelving differences, promoting peaceful coexistence, and advocating for equality, fairness, and justice.
He reaffirmed China’s commitment to being a member of the developing world and expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with NAM countries to implement the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative. Liu urged joint efforts guided by the vision of building a global community of shared future.
Highlighting China’s readiness to advance Belt and Road cooperation, Liu stated China’s commitment to practicing the common values of humanity. He called for an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization to lead the world toward a future marked by peace, security, prosperity, and progress.
The summit, attended by heads of state and government, as well as high-level representatives from over 100 countries and international organizations, served as a platform for global leaders to express their views on the current international situation. Representatives widely appreciated Liu’s speech for its positive outlook and its recognition of the NAM’s vital role.
On Saturday, Liu Guozhong was invited to participate in a development seminar hosted by Ugandan President and NAM chair Yoweri Museveni at the Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation, where he delivered another impactful speech. The seminar provided an additional opportunity for global leaders to engage in discussions on development issues and foster international cooperation.
