China Opposes Unilateral Sanctions on Belarus

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Monday that China firmly opposes the illegal unilateral sanctions imposed on Belarus by the U.S. and other Western countries. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks during a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Wang Yi emphasized China’s support for the Belarusian people’s right to pursue their chosen path of development and expressed opposition to external interference in Belarusian internal affairs. He highlighted that mutual support on international and multilateral platforms safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of both nations while promoting international fairness and justice.
Wang called for strengthened coordination between China and Belarus in various international and regional mechanisms, including the United Nations, the SCO, and BRICS. He affirmed China’s willingness to work with Belarus to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, intensify mutual political support, deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and maintain close collaboration in international affairs.
Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik expressed Belarus’s readiness to align its development strategies with China, aiming for strategic mutual trust, enhanced political cooperation, and shared economic growth. Aleinik reiterated Belarus’s steadfast support for China’s positions on Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and the South China Sea.
This meeting underscores the robust bilateral relations between China and Belarus and their mutual commitment to addressing international challenges collaboratively.
