China’s State Council Approves Key 2024 Tasks

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: The China’s State Council convened for an executive meeting presided over by Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday to deliberate and approve arrangements for the country’s key tasks in 2024. The meeting marked a pivotal step in shaping China’s economic and social landscape for the year ahead.
Among the approved tasks, the meeting gave the green light to guidelines aimed at expanding China’s grain output, emphasizing the importance of food security. Premier Li stressed that safeguarding food security is a top priority, urging efforts to facilitate major projects such as high-standard farmland construction and the revitalization of the seed industry.
In addition to food security, the meeting focused on the facilitation of high-quality economic growth through the upgrading of standards. Premier Li emphasized the need to promote the formulation and revision of standards, seeking input from enterprises and consumers. He urged the swift introduction of these standards to advance high-quality development.
The State Council meeting also included discussions on ensuring the high-quality and balanced development of compulsory education. Premier Li underscored the importance of improving school conditions, enhancing education quality, and addressing educational gaps between regions, urban and rural areas, schools, and different groups. Efforts were emphasized to adapt compulsory education to demographic changes and the progress of new urbanization, ensuring flexibility in resource allocation and directing fiscal spending toward weak links.
The meeting further reviewed and adopted regulations pertaining to pensions and the preferential treatment granted to the families of deceased or disabled servicemen. It underscored the need to strictly implement related policies in accordance with the regulations, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting those who have served in the military.
Premier Li reiterated that the government work report delivered at the second session of the 14th National People’s Congress has set the economic and social development objectives for the year. He emphasized the importance of mapping detailed measures and policies to implement the key tasks outlined in the report, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing the various challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in 2024.
