China’s Zhang Guoqing Stresses Priority on People’s Safety Amid Jilin Flood Response

Jilin, The Gulf Observer: According to NHC report, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing has emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing people’s safety, ensuring the basic needs of those affected by floods, and minimizing the losses from the disaster during his recent visit to Jilin Province. Zhang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks while inspecting flood control efforts and meeting with affected residents from Thursday to Friday.

During his visit, Vice Premier Zhang highlighted the necessity of deploying professionals to the front lines and utilizing advanced equipment, such as drones and radar, to promptly identify potential hazards. He stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of critical infrastructure, including dikes and reservoirs, to prevent further damage and casualties.

“Efforts must be intensified to evacuate impacted residents swiftly to avoid casualties,” Zhang stated. “Precise monitoring of rainfall and flooding, coupled with strengthened funding and material support, is essential to support the affected regions.”

Zhang also called for the repair of damaged infrastructure, comprehensive drainage and dredging operations, and the restoration of normal life and production in the impacted areas. He emphasized the need for local authorities to take proactive measures in these efforts.

In his inspections, Zhang underscored the Communist Party of China’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being of the people, ensuring that all necessary resources are mobilized to mitigate the effects of the flooding and support the recovery process.
