Chinese and Venezuelan FMs Pledge Enhanced Cooperation in Global Multilateral Sphere

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto in Beijing, where both sides committed to strengthening their collaboration within the global multilateral sphere.

Marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Venezuela, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized the need for strategic and forward-looking planning to infuse new dimensions into the all-weather strategic partnership between the two nations.

Wang reiterated China’s support for Venezuela in safeguarding its national sovereignty and dignity, and in pursuing a development path tailored to its national conditions. He expressed China’s readiness to expand bilateral trade and cooperation, aiding Venezuela in accelerating its industrialization and economic diversification. Wang also highlighted the importance of close cooperation between China and Venezuela, as significant members of the Global South, to jointly address global challenges.

Furthermore, Wang stressed that Latin American and Caribbean countries, integral to the Global South, should uphold unity, cooperation, and independence. He assured that China remains a steadfast partner in their pursuit of development and prosperity.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Gil reaffirmed his country’s adherence to the one-China principle and support for China’s core interests, including national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He lauded China’s commitment to fairness and justice in international affairs and expressed Venezuela’s willingness to maintain close communication and collaboration with China to advance Latin America-China relations.

Gil also called for joint opposition to hegemony and illegal unilateral sanctions, advocating for the defense of common interests, fairness, and justice for the Global South. Additionally, he acknowledged Venezuela’s appreciation for the six common understandings on the political resolution of the Ukraine crisis proposed by China and Brazil.

This meeting highlights the enduring friendship and robust partnership between China and Venezuela, underscoring their shared vision for a more equitable and just global order.
