Chinese Foreign Minister Holds Talks with Peruvian Counterpart

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: On Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi engaged in discussions with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea Franco, in Beijing, marking a significant step in bilateral relations between the two nations.

Wang Yi, a distinguished member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, underscored the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between China and Peru. Emphasizing the importance of implementing key agreements between the two nations’ leaders, Wang expressed China’s commitment to elevating the comprehensive strategic partnership with Peru to new heights.

In line with this commitment, Wang Yi articulated China’s readiness to collaborate with Peru on enhancing development-strategy synergy, expediting negotiations for the upgrade of the China-Peru free trade agreement, and bolstering cooperation across various sectors to support Peru’s industrialization endeavors.

Furthermore, Wang affirmed China’s support for Peru’s hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting this year, signifying China’s dedication to fostering regional cooperation and development.

In response, Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea Franco conveyed Peru’s appreciation for China’s steadfast commitment to peace, fairness, and justice. He expressed Peru’s alignment with China’s vision of a community with a shared future for humanity and welcomed China’s global initiatives aimed at fostering a more equitable and inclusive international order.

Gonzalez-Olaechea Franco reiterated Peru’s unwavering adherence to the one-China principle and pledged to strengthen solidarity and mutual trust with China while expanding bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit.

During the discussions, both sides reached consensus on deepening cooperation in critical areas such as infrastructure development, digital economy, healthcare, and sustainable green development. They also exchanged perspectives on pressing international and regional issues of mutual concern.

The meeting between Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Peruvian counterpart signals a renewed commitment from both sides to deepen collaboration and advance bilateral relations for the benefit of both nations and the broader international community.
