Chinese Premier Emphasizes Comprehensive Reform and Economic Growth
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday highlighted the critical importance of implementing reform measures to achieve the nation’s annual economic and social development goals. Speaking at the fifth plenary meeting of the State Council, Premier Li stressed that further deepening of comprehensive reform is essential to provide the necessary impetus for economic progress.
During the meeting, Premier Li underscored the need to enhance the effectiveness of economic structural reforms, with a particular focus on key areas such as promoting fiscal and tax reform, building a unified national market, and advancing new urbanization efforts. He called for intensified efforts to bolster the economic recovery trend, emphasizing the importance of expanding domestic demand, particularly through boosting consumption.
“Service consumption should be improved in terms of both scale and quality,” Premier Li stated, advocating for differentiated support policies tailored to the needs of various demographic groups to fully unleash consumption potential.
To stimulate investment, Premier Li emphasized the role of government investment in driving economic growth, while also highlighting the importance of policies that support private investment. He called for an increase in the scope, scale, and proportion of local government special bonds used as capital funds to spur development.
The Premier also stressed the need for continuous improvement in communication between the government and businesses. “The voices of businesses must be heard and their difficulties truly addressed,” he said, underlining the importance of creating a supportive environment for enterprises.
Additionally, Premier Li urged the development of new quality productive forces, tailored to local conditions, and the promotion and upgrade of new technologies and products. He also called for active adaptation to global changes, improved high-standard opening-up, and greater efforts to attract and utilize foreign investment.
Premier Li further emphasized the importance of supporting and improving people’s livelihoods, stabilizing employment for key groups, and introducing new measures to increase residents’ incomes. He stressed that government work should be more law-based, noting that the fundamental goal of administrative law enforcement should be to maintain the order of the socialist market economy, thereby creating a favorable business environment that fosters innovative development across all market entities.
The meeting concluded with a strong call to action, urging all levels of government to ensure the effective implementation of these reform measures to drive China’s economic and social development forward.
