Chinese Premier Holds Talks with Prime Minister of Dominica

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: In a significant diplomatic encounter, Chinese Premier Li Qiang engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of the Commonwealth of Dominica during their meeting in Beijing on Monday. The meeting underscored the deepening relationship between China and Dominica as they mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Premier Li Qiang emphasized the mutual respect and equality that have characterized the bilateral relationship between China and Dominica over the past two decades. He highlighted the substantial progress and fruitful cooperation across various sectors, citing it as a model for achieving mutual benefits between nations of different sizes.

Expressing China’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral ties, Premier Li reiterated China’s support for Dominica’s national sovereignty and independence, as well as its development path tailored to national conditions. He expressed China’s readiness to deepen cooperation in infrastructure construction, agriculture, and trade within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Additionally, Premier Li highlighted China’s willingness to explore new areas of cooperation such as new energy, digital economy, and disaster prevention and mitigation.

Premier Li extended support for Chinese enterprises investing in Dominica and encouraged broader participation of Dominica and other Caribbean countries in the China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum to expand economic and trade cooperation.

In response, Prime Minister Skerrit reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Dominica and China, citing it as an exemplary relationship in Latin America-China friendship. Prime Minister Skerrit expressed Dominica’s commitment to strengthening communication, increasing personnel exchanges, and expanding cooperation with China, particularly in addressing climate change and advancing the construction of a shared future between Dominica and China.

Following their discussions, Premier Li and Prime Minister Skerrit witnessed the signing of several bilateral cooperation documents, covering areas such as the Belt and Road Initiative, agriculture, green development, infrastructure construction, and the implementation of the Global Development Initiative. These agreements signify the deepening collaboration and shared commitment to mutual prosperity between China and Dominica.
