Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Beijing on Thursday, reaffirming the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and outlining new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
Premier Li emphasized that China-Pakistan ties have continued to expand in scope, yielding positive results across multiple sectors. He reiterated China’s commitment to implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthening high-level exchanges, and advancing the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
China aims to align development strategies with Pakistan, enhance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and advance key infrastructure projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This includes the orderly construction of roads, railways, and ports, as well as deeper collaboration in agriculture, mining, new energy, information technology, and artificial intelligence. Li also underscored the importance of fostering sub-national cooperation and people-to-people exchanges to promote mutual development.
Regarding security, Li stressed China’s readiness to enhance security cooperation with Pakistan and expressed hopes that Pakistan would ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions within its borders.
President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to its friendship with China, highlighting the historic support both countries have provided each other. He expressed Pakistan’s readiness to expand trade and investment cooperation with China, welcoming more Chinese enterprises to invest in the country. Zardari also assured that Pakistan would take all necessary measures to guarantee the security of Chinese interests.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong diplomatic, economic, and security ties between China and Pakistan, reinforcing their vision of a shared future.
