Chinese Premier Li Qiang Emphasizes Safe and Efficient Travel During Spring Festival Rush

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for measures to ensure safe and efficient travel during the Spring Festival travel rush, which is anticipated to reach record levels this year. Premier Li, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks during an inspection of the Ministry of Transport’s preparations for the holiday season.
The Spring Festival, a time for family reunions, represents one of the busiest travel periods in China, posing significant challenges to the country’s transport system. Premier Li emphasized the need for smooth and efficient passenger transport, urging officials to analyze passenger flow patterns scientifically. Measures such as increasing train services, optimizing schedules, and extending operating hours were recommended to ensure travelers can reach their destinations on time.
Acknowledging the impact of recent widespread rain, snow, and cold weather, Premier Li highlighted the importance of monitoring weather conditions, providing timely forecasts and warnings, and preparing for emergencies to minimize disruptions to public travel.
Focus on Logistics and Foreign Trade
During the inspection, Premier Li also reviewed foreign trade and express logistics operations at ports, underscoring the role of efficient port cargo transportation in supporting China’s foreign trade. He called for maintaining effective port logistics to ensure the timely delivery of overseas orders during the holiday season.
He urged express delivery firms to allocate labor and transport resources effectively to meet the public’s basic delivery needs. Premier Li also emphasized the importance of ensuring the supply of essential materials during the peak travel period, including food, coal for electricity and heating, and holiday necessities.
The Spring Festival travel rush is a critical test for China’s transportation and logistics systems, and Premier Li’s directives aim to ensure both the safe movement of passengers and the efficient flow of goods during this period.
