Chinese Premier Urges Reform and Innovation in Tianjin Municipality

Tianjin, The Gulf Observer: On Monday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang called on Tianjin Municipality in northern China to vigorously implement reform tasks, promote high-standard opening-up, explore innovation, and drive high-quality development through comprehensive reforms. Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made these remarks during an inspection visit to the city following the recent conclusion of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.

During his visit to a sci-tech innovation park, Premier Li engaged with researchers and representatives from fintech institutions and start-up companies. He focused on understanding the construction of innovation service ecosystems and the practical application of research results. Li emphasized the need to enhance the integration of technological and industrial innovation, develop effective and attractive scientific innovation platforms, and provide better incentives for scientific researchers and support for small and medium-sized tech firms.

In the Tianjin Binhai New Area, Li inspected an elevator manufacturer and a financial leasing company, advocating for the optimal use of favorable policies such as the country’s large-scale equipment upgrade program. He underscored the importance of supporting enterprises in promoting innovation and application in artificial intelligence. Li also highlighted the role of financial tools, including financial leasing, in serving the real economy and facilitating industrial transformation and upgrading.

Li encouraged the Binhai New Area to stimulate vitality more effectively through deeper reforms, particularly focusing on institutional innovation. He stressed the need to overcome bottlenecks in the reform of the pilot free trade zone, financial innovation, new urbanization, and high-standard opening-up. Additionally, Li urged the area to leverage its port and shipping advantages, tap into the potential for industrial upgrading, and strengthen policy and project cooperation with neighboring Beijing and Hebei Province to enhance the coordinated development of the region.
