Chinese Vice President Attends Paris Olympics Opening, Meets Macron

Paris, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, serving as President Xi Jinping’s special representative, attended the opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris. During his visit, Han expressed his wishes for the success of the Paris Games in a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Friday afternoon.
Conveying the greetings of President Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan to President Macron and his wife Brigitte, Han expressed his pleasure at being invited to the ceremony.
Han highlighted the significance of President Xi’s successful state visit to France in May, noting that it underscored the high level of China-France friendship and contributed to the steady development of China-Europe relations and global peace and stability.
President Macron echoed Han’s sentiments, affirming the success of Xi’s visit and asking Han to convey his sincere greetings to Xi and Peng. He also welcomed Han’s attendance at the opening ceremony.
On Friday night, Han joined a host of international dignitaries at the opening ceremony, marking the commencement of the 33rd Olympic Games.
Earlier that day, Han held talks with other state leaders, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh, furthering diplomatic engagement on the sidelines of the Olympic event.
