Czech and Polish Presidents to Hold Final Bilateral Talks Ahead of Leadership Transition

Czech

Prague, The Gulf Observer: Czech President Petr Pavel will host Polish President Andrzej Duda at Prague Castle on Monday for a high-level meeting, marking one of Duda’s final international visits before the conclusion of his term in early August.

The visit will feature bilateral talks between the two heads of state, followed by an extended meeting with their respective delegations and a joint press conference. The meeting underscores the continued importance of Czech-Polish relations, particularly in the context of regional security and EU cooperation.

This encounter follows their recent meeting at the NATO summit in The Hague and comes just weeks after conservative candidate Karol Nawrocki secured victory in Poland’s presidential election, defeating liberal rival Rafał Trzaskowski. Nawrocki is set to assume office next month.

Following the election results, President Pavel expressed optimism about the future of Czech-Polish relations, voicing hope that Poland would uphold its democratic values, remain on a pro-Western course, and maintain close cooperation with Czechia.

The leaders are expected to discuss key issues including defense collaboration, energy security, and the broader geopolitical challenges facing Central Europe.
