Czech President Affirms Strong Ties with Vietnam
Prague, The Gulf Observer: In a meeting on March 4, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel reaffirmed his enduring appreciation for the longstanding friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam. The occasion marked the presentation of credentials by Vietnamese Ambassador Dương Hoài Nam to President Vo Van Thuong in Prague.
During the meeting, President Pavel expressed his deep regard for the traditional ties and cooperation between the two nations. He conveyed his best wishes and regards to Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trong, President Võ Văn Thưởng, and other high-ranking leaders of Vietnam through Ambassador Nam.
President Pavel commended Vietnam for its remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, particularly highlighting the progress made during the nearly 40 years of Đổi mới (Reform). He also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to the host country’s socio-economic development, especially during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Czech Republic and Vietnam approach the 75th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025, President Pavel expressed the need to intensify cooperation between the two nations. He emphasized a focus on economic, trade, and investment collaboration through the implementation of the free trade agreement and the investment protection agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EU). Additionally, he suggested the initiation of direct flights to bolster economic, trade, and tourism ties, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Nam conveyed gratitude for the President’s warm sentiments towards Vietnam and his attention to the bilateral relations and the substantial Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic. He reiterated that Vietnam considers the Czech Republic a key partner in Europe and pledged to serve as a bridge to elevate the bilateral relationship to new heights.
The meeting between President Petr Pavel and Ambassador Dương Hoài Nam underscored the commitment of both nations to fostering stronger ties and exploring avenues for deeper cooperation in various sectors.
