Czech President Signals Readiness to Join Possible Peacekeeping Mission in Ukraine

Prague, The Gulf Observer: President Petr Pavel has said that the Czech Republic could and should participate in any future peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, should such forces be deployed under an international agreement.

In an interview with the Czech News Agency (ČTK), Pavel argued that Prague’s involvement would be appropriate given the country’s consistent support for Kyiv since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion and its active role in the peace process. He noted that the extent of Czech participation would depend on the specific terms of an eventual agreement.

The Czech head of state also suggested that territorial concessions by Ukraine may become inevitable as part of a potential settlement. While acknowledging that such concessions would constitute a violation of international law, Pavel said they reflect the battlefield reality.

“If the war is not to drag on for years with growing casualties and destruction, then a temporary loss of territory is the lesser evil,” he stressed.
