Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, visited ADNOC Gas’ Habshan 5 gas processing facility for an Iftar gathering with employees. The visit underscored the critical role of the Habshan team in advancing ADNOC’s strategic objectives while aligning with the UAE’s Year of Community initiative under the theme “Hand in Hand”.

During his visit, Dr. Al Jaber conveyed the UAE Leadership’s appreciation for the workforce’s contributions to national energy security and economic prosperity. He met with Emirati employees, including Aamna Al Shehhi, ADNOC’s first female Plant Inspector, who showcased AI-driven innovations such as a robotic gecko and drone, demonstrating the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on industrial operations.

Dr. Al Jaber reaffirmed ADNOC’s commitment to talent development, highlighting the Tamkeen technical program, where 750 UAE Nationals excelled in managing onshore oil and gas sites. He also emphasized ADNOC’s efforts to integrate AI in operations and drive the UAE’s industrial growth. In 2024, ADNOC Gas significantly contributed to the national economy through the In-Country Value (ICV) program and the Make it in the Emirates initiative by prioritizing local goods and services.

“In the Year of Community, we are reminded that progress is a shared journey—achieved hand in hand,” Dr. Al Jaber stated. “Our talented team in Habshan embodies this spirit daily, powering the UAE and supporting communities worldwide. ADNOC remains committed to investing in people, leveraging AI, and fostering sustainable growth to create lasting value for future generations.”

The Habshan 5 facility, the latest addition to the Habshan Industrial Complex, plays a crucial role in ADNOC Gas’ lower-carbon value chain. Processing over 10 billion standard cubic feet (scf) of natural gas daily, ADNOC Gas meets 60% of the UAE’s gas needs. The complex also strengthens ADNOC’s position as the world’s largest sulfur supplier and the second-largest exporter of naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), with annual LPG sales exceeding 10 million tonnes—enough to meet the cooking needs of over 25 million households.

Equipped with advanced AI technologies, including Neuron 5 and Real Time Optimizer (RTO), Habshan 5 optimizes asset performance while reducing emissions. ADNOC continues to expand its gas processing capacity, aiming to exceed 13 billion scf per day by 2029. Major projects at Habshan, including support for Borouge 4, Ruwais LNG, and the UAE’s drive for gas self-sufficiency, reflect ADNOC Gas’ commitment to sustainable growth and technological innovation.
