Cairo, The Gulf Observer: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has hailed the efforts made by British Prime Minister to make tangible progress in the bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields, the Presidency said in a statement.

The phone call tackled bilateral relations and discussed a number of international issues of mutual concern, especially cooperation on climate change in light of Egypt’s hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh city next November.

Sisi voiced Egypt’s aspiration for continuous joint efforts to support bilateral cooperation with the UK during the coming period, the statement said.

For his part, Johnson valued the close ties between Egypt and the UK, praising the development of relations between the two countries and stressing that Egypt under the leadership of Sisi is an important partner for Britain in the Middle East, the Mediterranean basin and the African continent.

Johnson affirmed Britain’s keenness to support the ambitious measures that Egypt has taken toward comprehensive development, especially through increased investments, transfer of expertise and technology, and localization of industry.

The phone call comes while Johnson is preparing to end his premiership on 6 September under a timetable agreed upon by the Conservative Party.
