EIB Allocates €100 Million for Transport Infrastructure Projects in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The European Investment Bank (EIB) has allocated €100 million for the implementation of transport infrastructure projects in Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.
The announcement followed a meeting between Tajikistan’s Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrahim, and an EIB delegation led by Mr. Edwardas, Head of the EIB Asia and Pacific Division. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on the development and implementation of transport infrastructure projects across the country.
The allocated funding will be directed toward the modernization of transport infrastructure and the improvement of accessibility to transport services. These measures are expected to support Tajikistan’s economic development and enhance regional connectivity and integration.
The financial support is provided within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tajikistan and the European Investment Bank. The MoU was initially presented at the Investor Forum on Sustainable Transport Links between Europe and Central Asia, held in Brussels in January 2024 as part of the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative. The document was formally signed by both parties on April 4, 2025.
EIB representatives expressed their interest in further expanding cooperation under the MoU and indicated that priority regional transport projects would be proposed for future financing.
The allocation reflects the EIB’s continued engagement in supporting sustainable transport development and regional integration in Central Asia.
