Baku, The Gulf Observer: Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) on Tuesday. The meeting, which took place in the Blue Zone area of the summit, focused on global efforts to combat climate change and address environmental issues, with particular emphasis on the Zero Waste Project launched under Erdogan’s patronage.

As Chair of the UN High-Level Advisory Board on Zero Waste, Erdogan provided an update on the ongoing initiatives and progress of the Zero Waste Project, which aims to reduce waste generation, optimize resource use, and promote recycling efforts across Türkiye. The initiative, launched in 2017, has positioned Türkiye as a global leader in environmental sustainability, with First Lady Erdogan at the forefront of these efforts.
