Federica Brignone Extends World Cup Lead with Giant Slalom Victory in Aare

Aare

Aare, The Gulf Observer: Italy’s Federica Brignone continued her dominant form in the Alpine Skiing World Cup, securing victory in the Giant Slalom race in Aare, Sweden, on Saturday.

This latest triumph marks the 36th World Cup win of the 34-year-old skier’s career and her ninth victory of the season. With this win, Brignone further strengthened her position at the top of the overall World Cup standings, accumulating 1,294 points—a commanding 322-point lead over Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami, who finished ninth in the race.

The race, however, saw disappointment for Brignone’s teammate Sofia Goggia, who had been in second place after the first run but crashed out on her second attempt.

With her consistent performances, Brignone remains the standout competitor in this season’s World Cup, inching closer to securing the overall title.
