Rabat, The Gulf Observer: FIFA President Gianni Infantino has commended Morocco’s triumph at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, describing the victory as a testament to the country’s growing dominance in African football.

Speaking to the press, Infantino said, “I am very happy for Morocco, which won its third CHAN title and proved it deserves this achievement.” He praised Morocco as “a great football country,” adding that the third championship confirms its superiority at the continental level.

Morocco claimed its third CHAN crown on Sunday after edging Madagascar 3–2 in a thrilling final at Nairobi’s Moi International Stadium. The FIFA president noted the competitive nature of the match, stressing, “It was not easy to win this match — it was a difficult encounter and a real final by all standards.” He underlined that Morocco’s title was fully deserved, reflecting its consistent strength throughout the tournament.

Infantino also highlighted the enthusiasm of the fans, calling it evidence of the rapid development of African football. He expressed his joy, saying he was happy “for Africa, for Morocco, and for FIFA.”

The victory cements Morocco’s remarkable record in continental competitions and reinforces its reputation as one of Africa’s premier footballing nations. With three CHAN titles, Morocco joins the elite group of countries that have dominated the tournament since its inception.

Organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), CHAN is unique in featuring only players competing in their domestic leagues. The tournament is widely regarded as a vital platform for nurturing local talent and advancing African football.
