Department of Arts and Media, Foundation University Islamabad and the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Pakistan organized Art Exhibition to commemorate the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation 2025; Initiative of the President of Tajikistan

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Department of Arts and Media, Foundation University Islamabad under the supervision of HoD Dr Hina Shahid organized an Art Exhibition in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Pakistan on the initiative of President of Tajikistan co-sponsored by Pakistan on Water and Climate at the United Nations General Assembly adopted as “the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation 2025” on 7th and 8th May 2024.

Senator Syed Mushahid Hussain and the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan in Pakistan, His Excellency Mr. Shafiev Saidjon Ismoil opened the exhibition. Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), Dr Hina Shahid, HoD Arts and Media and esteemed faculty members of the department were in presence. Dignitaries and students from around 15 different universities of Pakistan gathered see the art exhibition that showcased the hard work and dedication of the students and faculty to promote the cause of creating awareness about glacier melting.

The exhibition aimed at promoting the idea of being “Gracious to Glaciers” as it is vital for the future generations of the world. Artworks related to glacial harmony: a scream for conservation and the echoes of the Silk Road: recognizing the common heritage of Pakistan and Tajikistan were prepared by the students and faculty that showcased their understanding of the causes of global warming and preserving glaciers for a sustainable tomorrow.

The department and the Embassy collaborate to showcase the cultural tapestry including the traditional customs, folklore, textile, myths, legends, Norouz, cultural significance, rituals, and vibrant festivities and crafts of Tajikistan and Pakistan as both countries share historical, cultural and traditional ties and commonalities that are evident in the architectural marvels and design patters of both the countries.

Art exhibition includes mediums of painting, photography, sketching, installations, graphic designing, 2D and 3D animation. The chief guest Senator Syed Mushahid Hussain and the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan in Pakistan, His Excellency Mr. Shafiev Saidjon Ismoil appreciated the commendable efforts by Dr Hina Shahid, HoD Arts and Media department for making this exhibition a remarkable success.
