France’s Macron holds luncheon for President Sisi
Paris, The Gulf Observer: French President Emmanuel Macron holds a luncheon for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Elysee Palace on Thursday.
President Sisi was received by French President Emmanuel Macron, who then held a luncheon for President Sisi as he is the only leader who has arrived so far to participate in the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, due to be held June 22 and 23, media reported.
“The president’s participation in this important summit comes upon an invitation by French President Macron, in light of the close and growing strategic relations between Egypt and France, as well as Egypt’s active role at the level of emerging economies in general,” said Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy in a statement on Wednesday.
President Sisi’s participation in the summit falls within the framework of Egypt’s active role at the level of emerging economies, which contributes to promoting international initiatives aimed at supporting developing and least developed countries, and facilitating their access to the liquidity needed to face the economic repercussions of the successive global challenges.
During the summit, President Sisi will focus on various issues of concern to developing countries, most importantly stepping up international efforts to facilitate their access to the required financial flows in light of the challenges facing these countries as a result of the escalating global crises.
Egypt’s endeavor to achieve the goals of sustainable development 2030, including the developed countries’ commitment to fulfill their pledges within the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, will be underlined in the summit.
