Chairs meeting to review progress on forthcoming Int’l Gandhara conference

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: A meeting, chaired by Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Chairman Prime Minister’s Taskforce on Gandhara Tourism with the status of Minister of State, was conducted at the Department of Archaeology & Museums, on Tuesday to review the progress and planning of an international conference on Gandhara to be held next month on 11th, 12 and 13th of July, 2023.

The Minister, in his opening remarks, stated that he has been working on promoting faith tourism since last many years and for this, he is writing articles for renowned newspapers on regular basis. According to him, the rich heritage sites of Gandhara civilization located in different parts of Pakistan have potential to attract foreign tourists from several Asian countries, particularly Nepal, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia.

The detailed plan for organizing the Gandhara Symposium to be held on 11th, 12th, and 13th of July with the aim to connect Pakistan with the Buddhist world was also discussed thoroughly. On the occasion, the participants also exchanged their views on several other issues, including conducting a series of international trips to Buddhist sites even after the Gandhara Symposium Conference to promote religious tourism, regularization of crafting replicas statues of Buddha and taking relevant authorities on board for conducting the conference smoothly.
