Paris, The Gulf Observer: The French Ministry of Culture held a ceremony to award the Order of Arts and Literature (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) to Gayane Umerova, Chairwoman of the Uzbekistan Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts.

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati commended the ongoing cultural reforms in Uzbekistan, emphasizing that these efforts strengthen the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and France.

“This high award recognizes Uzbekistan’s contribution to strengthening international cultural ties and fostering global dialogue in the field of art,” said Minister Dati. “The presence of government officials, the Presidential Administration, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and cultural figures at the event is a clear testament to the effectiveness of Uzbekistan’s cultural diplomacy.”

In recent years, cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and France has reached new heights, with landmark initiatives such as the exhibition of Uzbek heritage at the Louvre and active participation in international cultural forums. The Uzbekistan Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts has played a crucial role in implementing these initiatives.

The Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters is awarded annually to approximately 60 individuals worldwide in recognition of their contributions to the promotion of arts and literature in France and globally.
