Global Leaders Praise General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for Contributions to Vietnam's Development

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Leaders from communist and left-wing parties worldwide have lauded Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for his significant contributions to the development of Vietnam.

G. Devarajan, General Secretary of the All India Forward Bloc, commended General Secretary Trọng for his impactful tenure, noting his efforts in rectifying the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), promoting economic development, combating corruption, and enhancing social welfare. Devarajan highlighted Trọng’s role in strengthening the ideological and organizational foundations of the CPV, advancing strategic economic policies, and supporting reforms to balance modernization with socialist principles. Under Trọng’s leadership, Vietnam has increasingly integrated into the global economy, signing numerous free trade agreements (FTAs). Devarajan also praised Trọng’s relentless anti-corruption campaign, his focus on improving living standards, and his commitment to social justice through poverty reduction, healthcare, education, and environmental initiatives. Furthermore, Devarajan acknowledged Vietnam’s proactive foreign policy, its role in UN peacekeeping, and its support for international norms and cooperation.

Egyptian Communist Party General Secretary Salah Adly Abdelhafiz expressed profound condolences to the CPV Central Committee and the Vietnamese people over Trọng’s passing. Abdelhafiz recognized Trọng’s dedication to the Party and the nation, noting his significant contributions to reform, anti-corruption, and socialist construction. He also highlighted Trọng’s commitment to peace and justice, his opposition to colonialism and imperialism, and his support for resolving the Palestinian issue through peaceful means.

Juan Castillo, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Uruguay, described General Secretary Trọng as a revolutionary committed to building socialism and advancing Vietnam’s prosperity. Castillo emphasized Trọng’s theoretical contributions through his extensive writings, including the influential two-volume book Vững bước trên con đường Đổi mới (Steadfast on the Path of Renewal). He pledged to continue promoting Trọng’s works in Latin America and commended his role in advancing Vietnam’s market economy within a socialist framework. Castillo also praised Vietnam’s foreign policy under Trọng, highlighting its adaptability and the expansion of international relations.

Bert De Belder, head of the Department of International Relations of the Workers’ Party of Belgium (PTB), conveyed Belgium’s deep loss following Trọng’s death. He noted that Trọng’s advocacy for development that serves people, rather than profit, has resonated widely. De Belder also highlighted the popularity of Trọng’s book Some Theoretical and Practical Issues on Socialism and the Path Towards Socialism in Vietnam, which has been published in French and Dutch.

General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng’s leadership has left a lasting legacy, reflected in global admiration and respect from his peers in the international communist and left-wing community.
