Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Austrian President Hold Talks in Vienna, Pledge to Expand Bilateral Cooperation

Vienna, The Gulf Observer: National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a high-level meeting with Federal President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen during his official visit to Austria on Saturday, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
During the talks, Berdimuhamedov extended an official invitation to President Van der Bellen to visit Ashgabat at a mutually convenient time. The Austrian president expressed appreciation for the invitation and welcomed the continued development of Austro-Turkmen relations, noting that cooperation between the two nations is steadily advancing and gaining new momentum.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration across political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the visit represents an important milestone that could further accelerate bilateral engagement and open new avenues for partnership.
He also expressed gratitude to Austria for its consistent support of Turkmenistan’s international initiatives, particularly its role in co-sponsoring several resolutions at the United Nations General Assembly, highlighting the importance of such cooperation on the global stage.
On the economic front, both sides reviewed the current state of trade relations and emphasized the need to better utilize existing potential to boost trade turnover. The importance of the joint Turkmen-Austrian intergovernmental group was underscored, with the next meeting proposed to take place in June in Ashgabat.
The meeting concluded with both leaders exchanging best wishes and reiterating their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Austria.
