Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Expresses Condolences at Iranian Embassy

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ashgabat on Tuesday to express condolences following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and several high-ranking officials.
Upon his arrival at the embassy, Berdimuhamedov spoke with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ali Mojtaba Ruzbehani, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.
In his conversation, Berdimuhamedov expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy in Iran. On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, himself, and the Turkmen people, he extended heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims. Demonstrating the enduring Turkmen-Iranian friendship, he made an entry in the Book of Condolences.
“As a prominent political and state figure, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi did much for the welfare and happiness of his people and made a significant personal contribution to further strengthening Turkmen-Iranian friendly relations. With his untimely death, Iran has lost a devoted son serving his homeland, and Turkmenistan has lost a true friend,” Berdimuhamedov stated, lamenting the loss of high-ranking officials in the crash alongside President Raisi.
Ambassador Ruzbehani, on behalf of the Iranian people and government, expressed profound gratitude to Berdimuhamedov for his visit and words of support during this difficult time.
Additionally, on the same day, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, visited the Iranian Embassy and left a message in the Book of Condolences, further expressing solidarity with Iran.
The helicopter crash, which occurred on May 19 in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, resulted in the death of President Raisi and members of his high-ranking delegation, marking a significant loss for both Iran and its international partners.
