Hanoi Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Data Centre at Hoà Lạc Hi-Tech Park

State-of-the-Art Data Centre

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The Hanoi People’s Committee on Friday unveiled the city’s main data centre at Hoà Lạc Hi-Tech Park, marking a major step forward in the capital’s digital transformation journey and efforts to build a digital government.

The inauguration ceremony celebrated the transition to an advanced, service-based IT model. Nguyễn Việt Hùng, Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, praised the shift from traditional self-operated infrastructure to a more efficient, cost-effective, service-oriented approach, which aligns with government priorities.

Cutting-Edge Infrastructure and Technology

The new data centre features private cloud technology and a multi-layered security system designed for optimal performance, safety, and adaptability. Developed at VNPT’s state-of-the-art facility in Hoà Lạc Hi-Tech Park, it meets international standards for data protection through its six-layer security framework.

The centre integrates advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT), to support government services, businesses, and residents.

Managed by a team of highly certified IT experts, the facility offers stable connectivity, robust security, and 24/7 monitoring, with scalable capabilities to accommodate future growth.

Partnerships and Collaboration

The project was spearheaded by a consortium comprising VNPT Group, Sun Viet Telecommunication Informatics Technology Development JSC (SVTECH), and Vinaphone Telecommunications Services Corporation, following a contract signed on July 10, 2024.

Benefits for Stakeholders

For the Government:
The data centre provides a unified and secure infrastructure, enabling efficient, data-driven decision-making. It consolidates data from sectors such as economy, healthcare, education, transportation, and urban planning, supporting the implementation of end-to-end online public services.

For Residents:
The centre facilitates access to technology-driven public services, including electronic health records, digital identification via the VNeID application, and real-time updates on traffic and environmental conditions.

For Businesses:
With its secure and scalable infrastructure, the centre supports innovation by enabling access to digital tools and integrated data. It fosters start-ups by providing a robust platform for testing and implementing technological solutions, while facilitating collaboration between businesses, regulators, and partners.

A Foundation for Future Development

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Hà Minh Hải, emphasized the centre’s role as a critical backbone for Hanoi’s digital infrastructure. “This facility not only enhances the security and efficiency of data management but also unlocks new opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and competitiveness,” he said.

The data centre is poised to serve as a cornerstone for Hanoi’s smart city aspirations, fostering a dynamic ecosystem of innovation and driving the city’s socio-economic progress in the digital age.
