Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: The Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), has announced that the 2024 E-commerce and Digital Economy Forum will take place on November 21 in Hanoi. The event aims to address the evolving needs of businesses in the industrial and trade sectors as they navigate digital transformation.
The forum, a key initiative under the MoIT’s digital economy agenda, will feature a plenary session, specialized workshops, and a technology exhibition. Discussions will center on themes such as “Digital Transformation and Green Transition in Production and Energy” and “Sustainable E-commerce Development in the Digital Era.”
Designed to assess the progress of digital transformation within the industrial and trade sectors, the event will connect businesses with reputable providers of digital transformation solutions. It will focus on three core areas:
- E-commerce development
- Digital transformation in manufacturing
- Renewable energy initiatives
The forum is expected to attract around 1,000 participants, including government officials, representatives from provincial and municipal departments of Industry and Trade, business associations, enterprises, and experts in e-commerce and the digital economy.
According to the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, digital transformation and the digital economy have become pivotal drivers of economic growth. A 2023 report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company identified Vietnam as Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economy, with a gross merchandise value (GMV) of $30 billion, projected to reach nearly $45 billion by 2025.
The forum will also provide a platform for leading experts to share insights and for businesses to explore opportunities in digital transformation and e-commerce. Its ultimate goal is to foster a concentrated and sustainable digital economy within the industrial and trade sectors, aligning with Vietnam’s green and sustainable development objectives for 2030.
