HH Sayyid Theyazin Honours Omani Youth Achievements at National Youth Day Ceremony in Sohar

Sohar, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, presided over the Omani Youth Day ceremony held on Sunday at the historic Sohar Fort. The celebration, organized under the theme “Extension,” highlighted Oman’s deep-rooted heritage and national identity while showcasing the intellectual and creative contributions of Omani youth.
The event commenced with an immersive tour of the “Extension” experience, displaying innovative youth-led projects across various sectors. A visual presentation followed, artistically reflecting the aspirations of Oman’s young generation through a composite artwork inspired by the nation’s diverse landscapes. The presentation embodied national pride, cultural belonging, and the steadfast commitment of youth to Oman’s continued progress and development.
In a significant announcement, His Highness inaugurated the establishment of a new Youth Centre branch in the Wilayat of Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate. This marks an important step in expanding the national initiative aimed at fostering youth creativity and innovation across all governorates.
The ceremony also witnessed the signing of seven cooperation and partnership agreements between the Youth Centre and private sector partners. These included an agreement with Vale Oman to finance the construction of the Sohar Youth Centre branch and another with Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO) to support the establishment of a conference and exhibition centre at the Youth Centre in Sur, South A’Sharqiyah Governorate. Additional agreements were signed with Mohsin Haider Darwish Group, OQ Group, Sohar Aluminium Company, and Sohar Port Company, along with a cooperation pact with OQ Exploration and Production.
As part of the ceremony, HH Sayyid Theyazin presented the 2025 Youth Excellence Awards, honouring outstanding youth initiatives across various fields. In the digital media category, Hajer Jumaa Al Amri received recognition for her podcast “Kawalees Aqleeya” (“Mental Backstage”), while the “Nabd Sohar” (“The Pulse of Sohar”) media team was awarded for their “Inspiring Paths” initiative, producing motivational visual content that celebrates youth accomplishments.
In the digital economy category, the project “Qualifying Omani Pilots for Agricultural Spraying” by Ankaa Space and Technology was honoured. The initiatives category recognized several notable projects, including “Hear Me” for social empowerment, “We Remain and the Dream Continues” for promoting reading culture, “Creative Mornings” for fostering dialogue and idea exchange, “Nutfat Khair” (“Seed of Goodness”) for enhancing faith awareness, and “Our Mark is Different” for promoting environmental sustainability.
Environmental awards were presented to Eng. Anwar Al Bimani for his “Qushoor” project converting marine shells into sustainable products; Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Raisi for “Wujha” (“Destination”), which develops premium automotive care products; and Rehab Al Maamari for “Blooming,” an eco-entrepreneurship venture that creates environmentally friendly products using local resources.
Entrepreneurship honours went to Fatima Jaafar Al Lawati for her “Mangaka Bag” project, Ali Al Rubkhi for the “Smart Developer” initiative, and AWJ Company for “Dot Next.”
The event concluded with the recognition of government and private sector partners for their vital role in supporting youth empowerment and promoting volunteerism and community engagement across the Sultanate. A special musical performance titled “Extension” brought the ceremony to a close, symbolizing the enduring ambition and commitment of Omani youth to national service and achievement.
