Ilham Aliyev and Putin Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Issues in Phone Call

Baku, The Gulf Observer: On October 24, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The discussion followed up on the leaders’ recent meeting held on October 9 on the sidelines of the session of the CIS Heads of State Council in Dushanbe. During the call, the two presidents addressed a number of pressing issues on the bilateral agenda.

President Aliyev and President Putin reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia. They also emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects in the energy and transport-logistics sectors, underscoring the strategic nature of bilateral ties.

The two leaders additionally exchanged views on regional cooperation and current international developments of mutual interest.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue and continue contacts at various levels to advance the partnership between their countries.
