Inaugural Session of Qatar-Turkiye Joint Economic and Trade Commission Held in Istanbul

Istanbul, The Gulf Observer: The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, and the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkiye, HE Dr. Omer Bolat, jointly presided over the inaugural session of the Qatar-Turkiye Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) held in Istanbul, Turkiye.

Expressing his pleasure at participating in this significant meeting, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani highlighted the importance of discussions surrounding critical topics of mutual interest. He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would contribute substantially to strengthening the frameworks of integrated strategic cooperation between Qatar and Turkiye. Emphasizing the robust foundations of the Qatari-Turkish strategic partnership, the Minister noted that it stands as a model in bilateral and regional alliances. He underscored that the partnership draws strength from historical ties and the spirit of solidarity between the two nations.

Addressing the economic challenges and global transformations, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani emphasized the need to intensify joint efforts to increase trade volume to levels that reflect the vast potential in both countries’ markets. He highlighted the remarkable 16.7 percent growth in trade exchange, which surged from USD 1.8 billion in 2021 to over USD 2.2 billion in 2022.

Anticipating further steps to enhance cooperation mechanisms, the Minister expressed optimism about exploiting potentials and opportunities across various economic and investment fields to serve the common interests of both nations.

Throughout the sessions of the Qatar-Turkiye Joint Economic and Trade Commission, both sides comprehensively reviewed cooperation areas in sectors including trade, investment, manufacturing industries, logistics services, information technology, digital services, financial services, food, agriculture, healthcare, and education.

In a significant development, both sides committed to taking necessary steps to advance the strengthening of trade and investment cooperation, with a specific focus on increasing the volume of trade exchange and facilitating the seamless flow of goods, services, and investments between Qatar and Turkiye.

The Qatar-Turkiye Joint Economic and Trade Commission marks a pivotal milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two nations, reaffirming their commitment to mutual growth and prosperity.
