Indonesia and UK Launch Economic Growth Partnership During President Prabowo’s London Visit

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia and the United Kingdom on Monday inaugurated an Economic Growth Partnership in London, aimed at deepening cooperation across key strategic sectors during President Prabowo Subianto’s official visit to Britain.
The agreement was signed by Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and Britain’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Peter Kyle. The launch coincided with a series of high-level engagements during President Prabowo’s visit.
British Ambassador to Indonesia, Dominic Jermey, described the partnership as “historic,” emphasizing that it elevates bilateral trade ties and expands collaboration in areas including clean energy, the digital economy, infrastructure, transport, education, and health services.
“This historic agreement takes UK–Indonesia trade relations to a higher level,” Jermey said, noting that it reflects a shared commitment to stronger and more resilient economic cooperation.
He further highlighted that the partnership will enhance efforts to address non-tariff barriers, support exporters, and stimulate two-way investment, creating new business opportunities and economic benefits for both nations.
Accompanying President Prabowo in London were Minister Airlangga, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. President Prabowo arrived in London late Sunday, departing Jakarta earlier that day.
During his visit, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III. Ambassador Jermey also noted that both countries are expected to formalize a broader strategic partnership covering defense, security, climate action, energy, and environmental cooperation.
