Indonesia, Australia Sign MoU to Deepen Investment Cooperation and Economic Partnership

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia and Australia on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation, a move expected to expand Indonesia’s access to the global investment ecosystem and support long-term economic transformation.
The MoU was signed in Jakarta by Danantara Chief Executive Officer Rosan Roeslani and Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong, and was witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during the Australian leader’s official visit to Indonesia.
In a statement, Roeslani said the agreement reflects the strong commitment of both countries to advance a mutually reinforcing and long-term economic partnership. He described the MoU as a forward-looking step aimed at promoting high-quality investment, accelerating national economic transformation, and enhancing Indonesia’s human resource competitiveness at the global level.
The MoU establishes a structured framework and collaboration mechanisms to support sustainable growth in investment relations, including closer partnerships with Australian funding institutions and investment entities to expand access to financing. Beyond capital mobilization, the cooperation also emphasizes long-term capacity building through collaboration in education, skills development, and talent exchange.
“These measures are part of Danantara’s efforts to enhance the professionalism and productivity of human resources, while supporting a globally competitive national economic transformation,” Roeslani said.
To facilitate implementation, both sides will explore various arrangements and financing schemes to accelerate the realization of strategic projects of shared interest. As a next step, Indonesia and Australia will establish a joint working group and a detailed work plan, with regular meetings scheduled to ensure steady progress in carrying out the agreement.
