Rio de Janeiro, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto announced Indonesia’s commitment to contributing US$30 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) during the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday. The pledge aims to help bridge funding gaps for WHO activities and enhance the global health system.

“We are willing to commit US$30 million to bridge funding gaps for WHO activities. We hope this can positively contribute to the noble work done by the United Nations,” President Prabowo said. He further emphasized the importance of collective global action, inviting fellow G20 nations to continue their efforts in addressing pressing global challenges, including health, climate change, hunger, and poverty.

“The G20’s convening power must unite and bring together advanced and emerging economies, converging different views in response to the world’s most urgent challenges, in the spirit of transparency, inclusivity, and consensus,” Prabowo added, stressing the importance of these principles for the G20.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Prabowo engaged in discussions with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus about the challenges currently faced by the organization.
