Indonesia expects partnership with China to develop prosperity, stability
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia expects that its partnership with China can continue to develop and bring prosperity, stability, and opportunities to the people of both countries.
“May our partnership continue to grow and bring prosperity, stability, and opportunities to the people of Indonesia and China,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated at the reception of the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China here on Wednesday.
Hartarto emphasized that economic cooperation between Indonesia and China is important, and the two have established bilateral relations for a long time.
China is one of Indonesia’s largest trading and investment partners, he remarked.
In 2022, China’s investment value in Indonesia had reached US$8.2 billion and was the second-highest in Indonesia. Total trade between the two countries in that year had also reached an all-time high of US$133 billion, an increase of more than 20 percent as compared to the previous year.
Hartarto also highlighted the importance of building strong and lasting relations between both nations.
Moreover, the Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has been running for 10 years, has brought significant benefits for both countries.
Bilateral cooperation between the two has kept growing in the fields of infrastructure development, green industries, and digital economy.
“As a form of our commitment to the digital economy, I am pleased to announce that the Chinese minister of commerce and I recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of digital economy and e-commerce,” Hartarto remarked.
The MoU serves as a foundation for cooperation in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology, improving commercial circulation, optimizing transportation systems, strengthening digital finance, and advancing digital health services.
