Indonesia Keen To Invest in Pakistan

Karachi, The Gulf Observer: Ambassador Adam M. Tugio met Chair of Pakistan, Indonesia Business Council Abid Nizar and the executives members of PIBC to discuss ways to deepening bilateral trade the two brotherly countries. While expressing his appreciation to PIBC for its contribution to strengthening bilateral trade, Ambassador Tugio encouraged PIBC to help identify areas where Pakistan manufacturers have strong comparative advantage in the market.

“We take note of the important to have more balanced trade for mutually beneficial relationships, and the Embassy will do its best to help finding potential business partners in Indonesia”, added the Envoy.

Ambassador Tugio said that the two countries manufactured good quality products that could complementer each other. Indonesia supplied vinyls and polyester and Pakistan well-known for the best manufacture for textiles and garments. He also mentioned that Indonesia produced half of the world’s spices, which are the primary components of “garam masala”. He claimed that Indonesian and Pakistani were fond of spices and that export of spices from Pakistan to Europe and the US is increasing due to increasing demand from overseas Pakistanis.

The PIBC chair , Abid Nisar received the highest distinction award “The Primaduta ” from the Indonesian government for his outstanding performance in promotion of trade between Pakistan and Indonesia

The envoy alluded to a study by one of the Chamber of Commerce identifying this positive trajectory but simultaneously reminded that Pakistan still imported some spices. “Since Indonesia is the world biggest exporters of spices, we can team up to product the best quality of garam masala for Pakistani overseas in those continents”, added the Envoy.

Ambassador Tugio also mentioned the interest of some investors from Indonesia to invest in Pakistan and made reference to the geoeconomics and geostrategic location of Pakistan as trade hub for Central Asia. “CPEC infrastructure will contribute to enhance trade connectivity in the region and to the Central Asia”, the Envoy said. He further encouraged Pakistani businessmen to participate in “Pakistan-ASEAN Trade Exhibition” to be held in Jakarta on May by TDEP and explore more business opportunities with ASEAN trading partners.

As part of FPCCI, PIBC was established to promote bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan. The chair of PIBC, Abid Nisar received the highest distinction award “The Primaduta Award” from the Indonesian government for his outstanding performance in trade between Pakistan and Indonesia.
