Indonesia Secures USD 3.07 Million Furniture Deals at KOFURN 2025

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s furniture industry recorded potential transactions worth USD 3.07 million at the Korea International Furniture and Interior Fair (KOFURN) 2025, the Ministry of Trade announced on Sunday, underscoring strong interest from South Korean buyers.
Director General of National Export Development Fajarini Puntodewi noted that Korean consumers are particularly drawn to Indonesian furniture for its multifunctional and compact designs, tailored to South Korea’s typically small living spaces.
“Buyers prefer furniture that is easy to move and not too large — practical yet aesthetic pieces that align with the market’s needs,” she said.
Twelve Indonesian exporters participated in the exhibition, presenting sustainable wooden and rattan products that combined natural materials with traditional craftsmanship and minimalist design. This blend, increasingly popular in South Korea, resonated with visitors.
“Cherry-colored finishes and designs that emphasize natural wood grains are especially in demand, as they offer both modern and organic appeal,” Puntodewi added.
Deden Muhammad Fajar Shiddiq, Director of Export Development for Manufactured Products, highlighted that most booth visitors were end consumers, reflecting broad market appeal.
“This level of demand presents real opportunities to expand exports, build partnerships, and even establish showrooms in South Korea. Some exhibitors have already secured buyers,” he said.
The Ministry of Trade plans to review the fair’s outcomes and encourage businesses to maximize opportunities provided by the Indonesia-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
“With CEPA offering zero tariffs on furniture and South Korea’s strong consumer spending power, we see major export potential ahead,” Deden emphasized.
All exhibitors showcased Indonesia’s unique design philosophy — merging traditional craftsmanship with modern, minimalist aesthetics — positioning the nation’s furniture industry to capture growing demand in South Korea and across East Asia.
